When You Feel Like Quitting: Read Me

By Coach Shawn

In our fast-paced lives, it’s easy to overlook the most valuable asset we possess: our health.

We oftentimes put everything in front of prioritizing our own health.

One day turns into two, two turns into a week and before you know it, our health is suffering.

The consequences of neglecting our health & fitness can be staggering—

  • Daily Aches,
  • Daily Pains,
  • Weight gain –> Overweight –> Obese
  • Confidence lost,
  • Decrease in daily capabilities,
  • Increase risks of chronic illnesses,
  • Tired all the time,
  • A Weak body & weak mind,
  • and a diminished quality of life.

But amidst the chaos, there always lies the opportunity to reclaim control and prioritize our health.

Even if we must acknowledge, our smallest efforts, one step at a time.

1 WORKOUT A MONTH > NO WORKOUT WHATSOEVER.

Consider the scenario where you are currently committing to just one workout session a month.

What could we tell ourselves? “I’m wasting money. This is not effective. This isn’t worth it. I’ll just quit and “save my money.”

Save your money for what I ask?

It may seem minimal, but it’s a powerful statement—an acknowledgment that your health matters.

In a world where “busy” has become the norm, carving out any time for yourself is a significant victory. It’s a step in the right direction, signaling your intent to invest in your well-being.

Let’s take it a step further.

2 WORKOUTS A MONTH > 1 WORKOUT A MONTH & NO WORKOUT WHATSOEVER.

Two workouts a month may not seem like much, but it’s a notable improvement from one.

With each session, you’re making strides towards better health, building momentum, and reinforcing positive habits. You’re beginning to build some momentum which will have a profound impact on your overall well-being.

Even if it’s 2 out of 30 days.

It’s the step. It’s progress. It’s better than nothing at all.

But why stop there?

3 WORKOUTS A MONTH > 2 OR 1 WORKOUT A MONTH & NO WORKOUT WHATSOEVER.

Three workouts a month not only surpasses the previous two but also accelerates your progress. It’s a small commitment to yourself, a promise to prioritize your health.

Which 3 workouts in a month is maybe where you are at in your current life.

With each additional session, you’re not just exercising—you’re investing in your future self, banking more health, and laying the foundation for a stronger, healthier you.

It’s slow progress but it’s also progress in understanding the value of consistency.

DOUBT KILLS: “BUT IS IT WORTH IT AT 1,2 OR 3 WORKOUTS A MONTH?

Yet, amidst this journey, doubts always arise.

You may find yourself questioning whether 1,2, or 3 workouts a month is worth the effort?

Thinking of what you’re spending versus what you’re following through on.

You don’t see it getting any better, especially on those days when motivation wanes.

HERE’S THE TRUTH EVERYONE NEEDS TO HEAR:

Without a Coach, a community we will quit on ourselves.

We won’t do this on our own.

Even the most experienced and disciplined individuals with years under their belt and knowledge don’t desire to go at it alone.

And even if we did, most of us wouldn’t stick it out consistently over time.

  • We lack personal accountability,
  • struggle with motivation fleeting,
  • lose our daily discipline,
  • allow other less important things to get in the way (or live out days of unplanned chaos)
  • prioritize comfort over discomfort,
  • even at the sacrifice of our own long term health.

We are busy.

We don’t want to have to create a workout plan, a warm up, keep sessions fun, the right challenge, make sure or know we are moving correctly and safe and come up with a training routine that’s going to deliver consistent results.

Most of us wouldn’t even know how to do that.

So we’d quit on ourselves.

We’d settle into a life without consistent movement and lifting practice.

And what would follow would be:

  • our lean muscle mass would decrease,
  • we would gain weight,
  • we would lose cardiovascular fitness,
  • our flexibility and mobility would decline and we’d feel stiff all the time
  • and our mind would suffer cognitive decline.

Our lives and health would greatly suffer.

CAN’T REPLACE THIS:

The value and role of a coach is undeniable.

A coach provides more than just guidance—they offer accountability, structure, motivation, and unwavering support.

They also pick us up when we are down, somehow always possessing positive energy that is contagious.

They make it easy by all we have to do is – show up.

Don’t worry about how to warm up to keep our bodies safe, they’ve planned that out.

Don’t worry how we’ll work around that injury or tweak you have, they’ve got us covered.

Don’t worry about how we’ll progress over time to achieve the results you’re looking for, they’re already 10 steps ahead.

Don’t worry about how to safely ramp up within the session, find the appropriate challenge for the day, know the correct pace or strategy needed to optimize our own performance and results…and have fun while doing it…

They’ve taken care of that for us.

They’ve put in that work.

We just have to show up.

And keep showing up.

A GUIDE FOR YOUR HEALTH & FITNESS

With a coach as the guide of your health and fitness, you’re not just getting a workout in or following a workout plan— you’re having someone build compounding health over time.

you’re being invested in by someone who cares enough about you and others to devote their hours, days and career to your well being.

So you can feel better, live longer and lead the most fulfilled life.

You’re also part of a community – you belong.

Surrounded by like-minded individuals who share similar goals and aspirations.

Who only want to see you succeed, whatever success looks like for you.

STAY THE COURSE:

So if you’re struggling and only making it once, twice or three times in a month and questioning your investment to your future self – my advice, stay the course.

One step at a time.

Life without those 1,2 or 3 days in the future is not better with its absence.

And for those who make it once, twice to three + times per week…keep it up.

Never doubt what you’re doing. The deposits you’re doing.

Just cause you can’t see your future self doesn’t mean you’re not investing in their health, fitness and wellness.

It doesn’t need to be perfect, that’s not the goal.

Investing in your health isn’t just about physical exercise—
It’s about recognizing that your health is the foundation upon which everything else rests.

By committing to regular exercise and seeking support, you’re not just investing in your physical well-being—you’re investing in a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life.

So when you struggle to make it as much as you want, re-frame your thinking.

Zoom out.

Think of future you.

Don’t let the hard days win and remember quitting on yourself is the fast lane to a decline in your health.

Prioritize consistency over time and you’ll reap the benefits as your health and well being transform for the better.
