Railroad Fam,
- I know you enjoy being active.
- I know you enjoy being around and with other good human beings.
- And at my core,
- I know we all feel a sense of pride and joy in helping other people.
So we wanted to combine all three of those things. And do it big.
This is exactly why we have created – MOVEMENT DAY 2024 – Rowing for a Cause.
We have partnered with Greater Hudson Promise Neighborhood and will check all of the above boxes on
September 14th – in our Children in Need Fall Fundraiser / Rowathon:
<Movement Day 2024>
On Saturday September 14th Teams of 4 people will be rowing 2,000 meters for every $100 raised (every $1 = 20 meters) which goes towards children in the local community.
- Active? = we are going to Row –
- Performed with our friends & good company = in teams surrounded with other like minded people.
- Helping others? = Funds raised that go to kids in need to give them another opportunity at a better life.
I’ve signed up and have my team (Lydia, Candi and Danyelle! w/support staff from Myla Rose)
And we have 4 teams already signed up at RR!
Our goal is a minimum of 10-15 teams from RR.
What to do next?
If you don’t have a team – create one! Ask in Railroaders, get local friends, your spouse, whoever you want to enjoy this and do more good with!
SIMPLE How to Guide (<3 min)
We are still about 7 weeks out – & more info will be dropping within each closing week.
But in simplest terms ,
- Get together a team –
- Register –
- $100 donation / sign up for the team of 4 ($24/person)
- Fundraise and hit the $1k+ goal
- Sept 14th – Row your meters
- Smile at knowing you helped contribute to kids in need in the local community and have the opportunity at a better life.

THE GREATER HUDSON PROMISE NEIGHBORHOOD SEEKS TO ADDRESS SYSTEMIC CHALLENGES AND NEEDS EXPERIENCED BY CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH A PROGRAM MODEL THAT IMPACT FIVE CORE AREAS.
Direct Support & Resources: GHPN offers opportunities and assistance to the youth and families we serve through direct support including our HudsonUP UBI pilot, emergency and discretionary funding, rental assistance and more.
Community & Collaboration: GHPN strives to create a culture of collaboration amongst stakeholders throughout the Hudson City School District and Columbia County. Through our Out-Of-School Time network, partner organizations come together monthly to work to address gaps in service and identify strategies to address needs. GHPN believes in the power of community-building and hosts several, large community-building events annually, including but not limited to: Community Clean-Up, Community Block Party, and MLK Day of Service.
Individual & Systems Advocacy: GHPN works to advocate for community members who are being negatively affected by systemic oppression. By enforcing the “dignity and worth of every person”, GHPN works to protect the rights of all people we serve. Through key programs and initiatives, like the Community Court Advocacy Program and Safeguarding the Children of Arrested Parents, we work as an organization to disrupt inherently oppressive systems. GHPN advocates for the rights of children facing adverse experiences and challenges through our Youth Prevention Network and Mentoring Programs.
Education & Professional Development: GHPN provides educational programming through our Early Learning and Literacy Network for children ages 0-5 as well as in our TeamTam After-School program and in Beyond GED program for opportunity youth ages 16-24.We also organize and host training on issues and topics related to our mission and work.
Legal System Reform: GHPN works to actively disrupt negative justice systems that disproportionately affect the communities we serve. Through initiatives including The Greater Hudson Initiative for Children of Incarcerated Parents and Safeguarding Children of Arrested Parents, we work to develop policies and implement unique programming to serve children and families impacted by current and recent legal system involvement.
