Let’s Talk About CrossFit

What comes to mind when you hear the word, CrossFit?

For those who do not attend Railroad, the word CrossFit typically comes with the following meanings for people I meet:

“I hear CrossFit gives a lot of injuries.”

“I hear CrossFit is dangerous.”

“I hear you have to be Fit to do CrossFit.”

People are quick to brand an entire fitness movement by either

  • what they’ve heard,
  • what they’ve read online,
  • or what someone told them they think.

Is it dangerous?

CrossFit, like anything can be be dangerous.

So can…

  • Eating processed food most of your life,
  • Drinking too much alcohol,
  • Falling down the wrong way,
  • Crossing a busy highway,
  • Sitting 10 hours a day for 40 hours a week for 20 years of your life.
  • or Driving without your seat belt.

Anything has the potential to be dangerous.

All CrossFit gyms and experiences are not created equal.

Our Starting Process…

This is why at Railroad, we start with a consultation process and not fitness.

We learn about you, get to know you, gather a bunch of important information and then we move to one on one training.

It is here where we teach you how to move safely, refine and improve your movement under the care and guidance of a Coach.

The Railroad Way

Those who train at RR know,  CrossFit is in our name yet it’s 1 tool we utilize among many.

  • We prioritize longevity.
  • We provide structure.
  • Our coaches are professionals who prepare well in advance and create unrivaled experiences.
  • Who are trained not only in human movement, but in decreasing pain, have extraordinary people skills and provide massive value in all endeavors they lead.

Even when we occasionally do CrossFit.

What’s CrossFit to us?

CrossFit to us is about becoming, being and staying functional.

It’s about an accepting, diverse and inclusive community of people.

It’s about an atmosphere, environment where through our individual effort there is collective respect and admiration.

It’s about building strength, character and resilience in ordinary human beings.

It’s not about handstand push-ups, muscle ups or overhead squats.

It’s not about did you “rx” the workout.

It’s not about how fast you do something or how much can you lift.

Unless it’s lifting others.

This is how we approach CrossFit.
